Lucy's Welcomes Tulips to Kiss!

My friend Marie recommended the beautiful work of Kelly Jean Conroy to me and I am so glad that she did! Kelly's pieces just arrived at the store and I can't say enough good things about them.

These delicate sterling pieces are unique and lovely. They are intricately hand cut and finished in a nice semi-matte sheen. Most of the pieces are inspired by nature... beautiful trees, animals from Kelly's "ate" series which features cute animal silhouettes with their dinners in their bellies, recycling and green-oriented designs.

Opening Weekend!

Lucy's had a terrific opening weekend. I just have to thank all of the wonderful family and friends who came with their good wishes, sent beautiful plants and offered their congratulations. I'm so lucky!

Popular items this weekend included Stacey Durand's hand knitted stuffed animals ("duranimals"). They were flying out of the store... keep knitting, Stacey! Prints by Caryn Duncan and Scrabble tile pendants were a huge hit, too!

Thanks everyone, I'll post photos soon!

Almost time to Open!

The shop has really transformed in the last two days. With the painting and new floor done, I've been hanging artwork and unwrapping the goodies that have been arriving by mail (think little clutch purses with retro fabric, pinbacks featuring audrey hepburn and 80s movie favorites, fantastic greeting cards and so much more...).

Lori Dennis dropped off her jewelry today. Beautiful earrings and necklaces! And if there is a special four-footed friend on your shopping list, come see Lori's adorable pet tags featuring cute, punny sayings. (She can even make you a custom tag with your pet's name!)

There is SO much wonderful art... I could go on and on but I'll try to contain myself...

Lucy's Welcomes Three Fantastic Jewelers!

I'm so excited about the jewelry collection that is arriving at Lucy's! What makes these pieces extra special is their handmade, one-of-a-kind nature.

Lori Dennis of Lofted Designs in York, Maine will display both her beautiful jewelry and her adorable pet tags.

Marie Gallo of swankster in Boston creates gorgeous pieces from sterling, semi-precious stones and pearls.

Michele Gregoire of Ripple Design (from right here in Dover!) will show jewelry made from hammered sterling and local seaglass.

Lucy's Under Construction

I've always thought that it's so intriguing and mysterious when new businesses block out their windows so you can't see the preliminary set up... and now I got to do it myself!

While Lucy's gets dolled up for the big opening, Statler and Waldorf will be catching the attention of those passing by. (These were actually our Halloween costumes this year!) If Lucy's can get two thumbs up from these old curmudgeons, we must be doing something right!

Thanks to Matt for helping me to pull up all of the old carpeting even though he just got off a red-eye flight from the West Coast! What a good friend.

A Bit About Lucy's...

Mission Statement

The goal of the shop is to provide a successful retail outlet for regional artists and craftsmen. We will supply a unique shopping experience with a focus on handmade, one-of-a-kind and vintage items.
***

Lucy’s Art Emporium will be an art gallery and gift shop located in Dover, New Hampshire. With a focus on regional fine art, crafts and vintage décor, Lucy’s will complement existing downtown businesses while presenting a distinctive collection of products. A focus on fun, color, sustainability and artistry will be shown in the inventory of the shop.

The philosophy behind our business is led by a desire to promote the work of individual artists and craftspeople, as well as to carry environmentally responsible products. Lucy’s will carry items that the customer will feel good about. Many items will have no middle-man, arriving at the shop straight from the hands that created them. Recycled packaging and re-vamped or antique items will help Lucy’s to minimize our environmental impact.

Lucy's Has a Home!

It's true! After a long hunt, Lucy's Art Emporium has found a home! Thanks to lots of help from our friend Tom at Arthur Thomas Properties, Lucy's now has a real life address!

Lucy's Art Emporium, LLC
303 Central Ave.
Dover, NH 03820

We'll be working really hard to open in time for the holiday shopping season and are so very excited!!!

Special Thanks.....

I've already had so much help and would like to start by thanking a couple of great friends.
